Buying a Designer Handbag: The Head Decision
When buying a designer handbag there are two important things to consider - your head and your heart. Can you afford it? Can you actually use it? Do you love it. Today we're going to look at the first part of the equation - the head.
The head decision basically comes down to budget. What can you afford? Do a bit of research into your favourite handbags to get an idea of their price. There's no point budgeting £300 is you're after a Chloe Bay, and if you want a purse to go with it that's most of your £300 gone just on the purse (and no, buying a designer purse without the bag to save money is not an option. If you're going to do it, do it properly.)
To start saving for a designer handbag and designer purse I think that £1,000 is a good start point if you haven't already decided which bag to buy. You can get a Mulberry Mabel handbag and purse for that budget and still have enough for a Smythson notebook.
Unless you're lucky enough to have a thousand pounds hanging around then you're going to open a savings account - let's call it the My Designer Handbag account. You could just keep the money in a tin under your bed but that's too easy to spend and you'd waste money buying a tin when that cash could go towards your bag.
Now put all your spare cash towards it - overtime, birthday money, the 10p you found down the back of the sofa. Don't worry if it takes a while - a designer handbag never goes out of fashion, not if you truly love it.
Now you've got your £1,000 take it out of your bank account (or tin) and hold it for a while. Are you sure you want to spend it on a bag? £1,000 is a lot of cash - you could use it as a deposit on a car or towards a house. No? Good. You're ready to buy your bag. This is where it gets fun!
